At Shanghai Auto Show held in April, 2011, General Motors will officially launch the Chinese version of the Chevrolet Camaro. To match the consumer in Chinese market, GM has decided renames Camaro to 'Ke Mai Luo'.
“The Camaro will have a sonorous Chinese name — 科迈罗 (Ke Mai Luo),” GM said in a statement today without giving any further explanations. Under the plan, Chevrolet Ke Mai Luo will start on the Chinese market with 3.6-liter V6 engine, direct fuel injection.
In the U.S., the sale price of Chevrolet Camaro V6 around $ 22,680. Meanwhile, in the China, a base price of around RMB 500,000 (approximately $ 76,400). Thus, the price of the Chevrolet Camaro has increased nearly three times when to the Chinese market.
In the past few years, GM has repeatedly said the luxury sports car segment is booming in China. In 2010, the market of sports car priced ranging from 400,000 to RMB 800,000 has grown 141%.
