2011 Los Angeles Auto Show will officially open later this year. However, according to some rumors, Hyundai Elantra Coupe will officially launch here. After the launch, the Elantra Coupe will become a direct rival of the 2012 Honda Civic Coupe in the U.S. market.
According to Autonews, Hyundai is ready for the launch of the two-door model in the U.S. market. “They showed us a photo of it and it's gorgeous,” Doug Fox, director of a Hyundai dealer in Ann Arbor, Mich., told the news site of the Elantra coupe.
Expected, the Hyundai Elantra Coupe will be equipped with a 1.8-liter engine, capacity of 148 hp and 138 lb-ft of peak torque, coupled to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, Insideline also reported that Hyundai may also add a sporty Elantra Coupe R-Spec equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, capacity of 208 hp.
