BMW aims to Sell 2 million cars annually to 2016

According to a source told the Manger Magazin magazine, a business-oriented publication, CEO Norbert Reithofer was pleased with BMW’s current growth and expected the company to hit the 2 million mark in just four or five years.

Besides, Manger Magazin also said, BMW is planning to open three new factories outside of the Western European market and expand the assembly line in South America. In particular, a new plant will be located in the United States.


In addition, BMW may consider to leverage a market with a lower cost of production like Eastern Europe or Mexico. In future, BMW will also open factories in Russia and Brazil.

In 2011, BMW anticipates selling more than 1.5 million cars globally through its BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce. With a new EV brand, BMW is expected further growth in emerging markets, so the automaker’s target might be more achievable than it initially thought.
