Developed to celebrate 35 years since the launch of the first Volkswagen Golf GTI in 1976. The GTI Edition 35 has officially unveiled at the Worthersee Tour (June 1-4) in Austria. The Golf GTI Edition 35 is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, capacity of 235 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, 25 hp and 20 Nm more than the standard GTI.

According to Volkswagen, the engine is not an upgraded version of the standard GTI. Instead, this is a detuned version of the AWD Golf R's four-pot. With 25 more horsepower than the standard GTI and a power/weight ratio of 6 kg/hp, the Golf GTI Edition 35 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 247 km/h.


Like the standard GTI, the Edition 35 is equipped with the XDS electronic differential lock for improved handling and the optional 6-speed DSG gearbox. The average fuel consumption is rated at 8.1-liter/100 km for the manual version and 8-liter/100 km for the DSG version. In the German market, the Edition 35 has a starting price of €30,425 ($43,750).
