Ford Suspended Production at Three Plants

Ford temporarily closing factories in Taiwan, China and South Africa from this week due to shortage of spare parts after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on March 11.

April 25, the leader of Ford does not disclose the closure of the plant this week may be offset by increased production in the future. Specific, from this week, Ford closed the Ford Lio Ho factory in Taiwan for two weeks, to deal with the risk of shortage of spare parts from Japan.


In China, Ford temporarily closing the Changan Ford Mazda Automobile joint venture factory in Nanjing for a week. Plants in South Africa also suspended production for a week. Earlier this month, Ford also had to close the Genk plant in Belgium for a week.

Factories in Taiwan produce the Focus, Mondeo, Escape, Econovan, Mazda3 and Mazda5. Factories in China produce the Fiesta, Mazda2 (4-door) and Mazda3. Factories in South Africa produce the Focus, Bantam, Ranger and Mazda BT-50.
