Looking towards a zero-emissions future, Volkswagen has unveiled their fully electric concept called the NILS at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Developed with the support of the Federal Ministry for Transport, Building and Urban Developement, the futuristic EV has an aluminium body, xenon headlights, wing doors and 17-inch aluminum wheels. Inside, the cabin features a digital instrument cluster and a single seat for the driver.
“The single-seater was developed for commuters, because – in Germany, for example – 90 percent of car commuters are alone in their car,” says Prof. Dr. Jürgen Leohold, Director of Volkswagen Group Research.
Power comes from a single electric motor that sits behind the driver with a peak output of 34 hp and 130 Nm of torque. The 460 kg car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 11 seconds and hit a top speed of 130 km/h. The range is expected to be around 65 km and charging takes just two hours.
