VW Beetle R coming in 2012

According to a report by Motor und Sport, a new R version of the new Beetle is being rolled out and will get the full 270 hp and 350 Nm of torque from the same 2.0-liter turbocharged power plant that goes into the Golf R.

But first, the Beetle R will be getting the 2.0-liter TFSI engine from the Golf GTI in a 200 hp configuration. It will have the capability to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, consumption will be 7.7-liter/100 km. The car will most probably roll out later this year and prices will start at €27,100.
