Cadillac has officially confirmed plans to build a production version of the Converj EV Coupe Concept - the Cadillac ELR.
The model features a T-shaped lithium ion battery, an electric motor and a 4-cylinder engine-generator. Like the Chevrolet Volt, the ELR will use electricity as its primary source of energy for motivation until the battery becomes low and the engine activates to recharge it.
Cadillac's vice president of marketing, Don Butler, said "Like other milestone Cadillac models of the past, the ELR will offer something not otherwise present - the combination of electric propulsion with striking design and the fun of luxury coupe driving."
