Volkswagen to invest €1 billion in renewables
Volkswagen said it plans to invest almost €1 billion in the production of environmentally friendly energy.
According to the Financial Times Deutschland, VW will invest in an offshore wind park and is negotiating with four other companies in this field, which towards by the end of the year it will choose a partner.
A wind park estimated to supply 20 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, equivalent to the electricity supply to about 275,000 households for a year in Germany.
Volkswagen aims to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted from its production plants by 40% by 2020.
