Hyundai - Kia to surpass Toyota, Honda in May sales

In recent time, Hyundai and Kia seem continuous receive the happy news. Earlier, Hyundai is expected to become the 6th largest automotive brand in the U.S. market in 2011. Until now, the Korean automaker has become the focal point when they are able to surpass Toyota and Honda in May sales.

In May, the list of factors for and against each respective automaker continues to grow in complexity with each passing day. However, many people predicted that Hyundai-Kia will sell more cars than Toyota and Honda in May. Proof is the preliminary numbers have been crunched by TrueCar.


The first is the effects of natural disasters in Japan. The result is new car sales in the U.S. to drop 3.7% over the same period last year, to just 1,060,392 cars sold. In particular, the Japanese car manufacturers have the most disadvantaged.


TrueCar predicted, in May, Hyundai-Kia will offer 115,434 vehicles, up 43.4% from the same month last year. While Hyundai-Kia are moving forward, Toyota is expected to fall back from the number three rank with just 109,416 forecast sales in May, down 32.8 % compared to May, 2010.

Honda is also suffering, expected, they only sold a total of 92,889 vehicles in the U.S., equivalent to drop 20.7% from last month and and 20.7 % lower than the same month a year ago.
