2012 Audi A6 Avant Officially Launched

Launching of the 2012 Audi A6 Avant took place yesterday, May 18, in Berlin, Germany, accompanied by the information and the first official pictures of the car.

The new A6 Avant measures 4.93 meters in length, 1.87 meters in width and 1.46 meters in height. Althought being slightly wider and with a 70mm longer wheelbase at 2.91 meters, promises interior space more widely, without increasing the car's weight or fuel consumption, due to the use of new composite materials on the body and aluminum on the suspension and other parts of the car help reduce the weight.


The luggage compartment of the new A6 Avant has a standard capacity of 565-liter which can grow to an enormous 1,680-liter with the rear seats folded down.

Audi continue to hold designing stylish station wagons with clear lines and no frills for the new A6 Avant. On the interior, the latest A6 Avant features the same materials and dashboard layout as the sedan.

The engine choices similar to the A6 saloon, include two gasoline units, and four diesels engine. The gasoline range comprises of the 2.8-liter FSI V6, capacity of 204 hp and the 3.0-liter TFSI supercharged V6, capacity of 300 hp. The diesel include a 2.0-liter TDI, capacity of 177 hp and a 3.0-liter TDI V6 available in three states: 204 hp, 245 hp and 313 hp.

The 2.0 TDI is the most fuel efficient, with average consumption of only 5-liter/100 km and CO2 emissions of 132 g/km. The twin-turbo 3.0 TDI V6 is the fastest, from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.

In Europe, the new A6 Avant will appear in showrooms late this summer with a base price of € 40,850 (about $ 58,200).
