Recently, GM has officially announced a model update for its Cruze compact - the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. Compared to the previous version, the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze is no styling changes. Instead, GM focused its attention on improving fuel economy and equipment features.

The new Cruze is equipped by a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, capacity of 134 hp. Thanks to a lower axle ratio along with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the 2012 Cruze returns 6.19-liter/100 km compared with 6.53-liter/100 km for the current Cruze, while the Cruze Eco returns 6.03-liter/100 km instead of 6.36-liter/100 km. However, the Cruze Eco with the standard six-speed manual gearbox remains unchanged for 2012 returning 6.5-liter/100 km on the highway.

In addition, GM has added the standard features for the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, including Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, USB port, cruise control and a leather-wrapped shift knob. This is part of the $525 Connectivity Plus Cruise option package on 2011 Cruze. According to GM, the option was ordered by 90% of American customers.

Chevrolet is committed to responding to what customers want,” said Rick Scheidt, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “Adding these previously optional features streamlines the ordering process and answers the call of what our customers told us should be standard.”

In addition, the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze will be provided several standard safety features include 10 air bags, StabiliTrak electronic balancing system with rollover sensing, traction control and anti-lock brakes.
